Your game plan for this job

0 of 5 done

Most people just hit Apply. Do these first and you show up with someone on the inside.

  1. 1
    Pick 2–3 people at ReliaQuest
We found 65 current reps: 35 SDRs, 29 AEs, 1 SDR managers. SDRs reply the most; they were in your shoes recently. See them ↓
  2. 2
    Send a short, curious note
Ask about their experience, not for a referral. We write it for you, with the role and what ReliaQuest sells.
  3. 3
    Have a 15-minute chat
    Good questions for this role:
    • What does a normal day look like for you?
    • How did you land the job? What stood out in your interviews?
    • How is the team doing on quota? What separates the people who hit it?
    • How long do SDRs usually stay before moving up to AE?
  4. 4
    Apply, ideally with a referral
If the chat went well, ask if they'd refer you or point you to the hiring manager. Then apply and let them know so they can flag it.
  5. 5
    Prep for the role play
SDR interviews almost always end in a mock cold call. Practice with the ReliaQuest cheat sheet and the role-play guide.

Talk to someone at ReliaQuest before you apply

A friendly message to a current rep is the best way to stand out. Ask about their experience, not for a referral.

Full job description

Why it’s worth it:

Are you energized by helping security leaders rethink how their SOC operates in the age of agentic AI? As a Sales Engineer at ReliaQuest, you'll be the technical voice partnering with our Sales team to win new business and expand within existing customers. You'll show some of the world's most trusted brands how GreyMatter, our Agentic AI Security Operations Platform, eliminates Tier 1 and Tier 2 work, accelerates detection and response, and unifies their existing security stack without rip-and-replace. Along the way, you'll surface the customer insights that shape the future of GreyMatter and ReliaQuest.

The everyday hustle:

  • Partner with Account Executives across the full sales cycle, from discovery through technical close, to understand each prospect's security operations challenges, tech stack, and business drivers.
  • Lead technical discovery to uncover gaps in detection coverage, response time, analyst capacity, SIEM cost, attack surface visibility, and digital risk exposure.
  • Deliver compelling demonstrations and "Day in the Life" sessions across the GreyMatter platform: Core (Detection, Containment, Investigation, Response), DRP (Digital Risk Protection), Discover (CAASM), Transit (security data pipeline), and Agentic Teammates.
  • Position GreyMatter's agentic AI and automation as the path to eliminating T1/T2 toil, reducing MTTD/MTTR, and scaling the SOC without linear headcount growth.
  • Build technical business cases that quantify risk reduction, cost optimization (SIEM spend, tool consolidation, headcount efficiency), and operational efficiency.
  • Respond to RFPs, RFIs, and security questionnaires with accuracy and speed.
  • Support sizing, scoping, and pricing in collaboration with Sales and Solutions Architecture.
  • Run Value Assessments that map a customer's people, process, and technology against measurable SOC outcomes.
  • Compete and win against MDR, XDR, and SOAR vendors by articulating GreyMatter's differentiators: agentic AI automation, technology-agnostic integration, and platform breadth.
  • Serve as a trusted technical advisor to security leaders, from SOC analysts to CISOs, before and after the sale.

Do you have what it takes?

  • 5+ years in network security, information security, or security operations.
  • 2+ years in a customer-facing technical role (Sales Engineering, Solutions Architecture, Consulting, or equivalent).
  • Hands-on familiarity with the modern security stack: SIEM, EDR/XDR, SOAR, Firewall, IPS, DLP, Identity, Cloud Security, Email Security.
  • Working knowledge of SOC operations and the detection-to-response lifecycle, including the cost and capacity pressures security teams face.
  • Understanding of regulatory and compliance drivers: PCI, GLBA, SOX, HIPAA, GDPR.
  • Current perspective on the threat landscape, including ransomware, identity-based attacks, supply chain risk, and AI-enabled threats.
  • Confident presenting to audiences ranging from SOC analysts to C-level executives.
  • Self-directed operator who thrives in a fast-paced, high-growth environment.
  • Excellent interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills.
  • Willingness to travel 40%+.

What makes you uncommon?

  • Experience selling or engineering MDR, XDR, SIEM, SOAR, or AI-driven security platforms.
  • Familiarity with CAASM, Digital Risk Protection, or security data pipeline categories.
  • Exposure to agentic AI, LLM-driven automation, or SOC AI tooling.
  • Established relationships with security leaders in your region.
  • CISSP, GIAC, OSCP, or comparable certifications.
  • Bachelor's degree in a technical field or equivalent practical experience.
