It asks for 1+ year of experience. Apply anyway.
SDR and BDR jobs are entry-level seats, and the requirements are usually a wish list. Customer-facing work (retail, serving, teaching, recruiting, sports) counts. Your best move is to message one of the insiders below before you apply.

- 1Pick 2–3 people at UpCodesWe haven't found reps here yet. Search LinkedIn for "sales development UpCodes".
- 2Send a short, curious noteAsk about their experience, not for a referral. We write it for you, with the role and what UpCodes sells.
- 3Have a 15-minute chatGood questions for this role:
- What does a normal day look like for you?
- How did you land the job? What stood out in your interviews?
- The role is mostly outbound. How much is calling vs. email vs. LinkedIn?
- How is the team doing on quota? What separates the people who hit it?
- 4Apply, ideally with a referralIf the chat went well, ask if they'd refer you or point you to the hiring manager. Then apply and let them know so they can flag it.
- 5Prep for the role playSDR interviews almost always end in a mock cold call. Practice with the UpCodes cheat sheet and the role-play guide.

ABOUT US
Trusted by 800,000 monthly active users, UpCodes (YC S17) is a comprehensive compliance and product research platform that accelerates design to construction in the AEC space. The construction industry suffers from unnecessary costs and complexity; every year billions of dollars are wasted on rework. We’re committed to delivering easy-to-use tools that help designers and builders spend less time finding the right compliance and product resources and more time doing what they love — designing and building. We make a real-world, tangible impact on the lives of our users and their work of constructing our homes, schools, hospitals, and offices.
ABOUT THE ROLE
UpCodes has grown rapidly through product-led momentum, without the support of a fully built-out sales team. To build on this traction, we’re excited to hire an SDR who will play a central role in our go-to-market strategy.
You’ll work closely with AEs and the broader sales team to identify potential customers, generate new business opportunities, and learn how to effectively prospect and qualify accounts. You’ll receive exposure to every part of the outbound motion while developing the skills and commercial judgment needed to grow into an AE role over time.
WHAT YOU’LL DO
Identify potential customers and generate new business opportunities
Execute outbound campaigns across email, phone, and LinkedIn
Contact and qualify potential customers
Manage leads through the sales pipeline, including follow-up and appointment setting
Partner closely with AEs to ensure smooth handoffs, share context from discovery, and set them up for successful meetings
THE IDEAL CANDIDATE
1-2 years of SDR/BDR experience
Background in customer-facing or sales roles, with exposure to CRM platforms, is a plus
A strong desire and willingness to learn and build as our product and processes evolve
A good sense of humor and a down-to-earth personality
Proven history of consistently exceeding goals and being a top performer in past roles
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
A hustling mentality—no task is too small or too large
