Objections they'll throw at you
“I'm busy right now.”
→ Understood, I'll be quick. Could we book 15 minutes this week to talk about how you prioritize patching?
“We're not interested.”
→ Fair enough. Is that because your prioritization is already working well, or is the team too stretched to look at new data?
“We already have a vulnerability scanner or threat intel feed.”
→ Good, those matter. Do they tell you what attackers are actively exploiting, or mostly what's vulnerable?
“Send me an email.”
→ Happy to. So it lands well, are you more interested in the data itself or in plugging it into your tools?
Interview tips for this company
- Learn the words 'vulnerability', 'exploit' and 'patching' well enough to explain them to a friend.
- Security buyers hate fluff. Be honest about what you don't know and offer to bring in a technical colleague.
