“Hi [Name], this is [You] from Tekion. I know this is unexpected, so do you have a quick minute? We make a modern cloud system that runs a dealership, and I wanted to ask what you think of the software your team uses every day.”
Problems you solve for them
- Old dealer software is clunky, slow, and hard to connect to other tools
- Sales, service, and accounting data live in separate places
- Staff waste time on manual steps, and customers get a poor buying and service experience
Discovery questions to ask
- What system does the dealership run on today, and how long have you had it?
- Where does your team lose the most time: sales, service, or the back office?
- What would make you look at a new system, and who else would weigh in on that decision?
Objections they'll throw at you
“I'm busy right now.”
→ I get it, dealerships are busy. I'll keep it to one question: how happy is your team with your current system? Is there a better time this week for 10 minutes?
“We're not interested.”
→ Understood. Many dealers say that because switching systems sounds painful. Is it the cost, the move itself, or just that nothing is broken right now?
“We already use CDK or Reynolds.”
→ Lots of our customers started there too. Is there anything in your current system that your team finds frustrating, like reports, integrations, or support?
“Just send me an email.”
→ Sure thing. So I send something relevant, are you more focused on sales, service, or accounting? And who else should I include?
