PerformYard role-play cheat sheet
For the mock cold call at the end of most SDR interviews.
What they sell, in one line
Software that helps HR teams run performance reviews, goals, feedback and engagement surveys in one place.
Who you'd be calling
HR Directors, HR Managers, People Ops leaders and CHROs at mid-sized companies, nonprofits and other organizations.
Your opener
“Hi [Name], this is [You] from PerformYard. I know I'm calling out of the blue. Do you have 30 seconds to hear why I called, and then you can tell me if it's worth another minute?”
Problems you solve for them
- Review season runs on spreadsheets and email, and takes weeks of HR time
- Managers give inconsistent or late feedback
- Goals get set once and forgotten
- Leaders can't easily see who is engaged or at risk of leaving
Discovery questions to ask
- How do you run performance reviews today: spreadsheets, forms, or another tool?
- How many hours does HR spend chasing managers to finish reviews?
- How do you track goals and feedback between review cycles?
Objections they'll throw at you
“I'm busy right now.”
→ Totally fair, I'll be quick. Review season is probably a big time sink for your team. Can I grab 10 minutes later this week instead?
“We're not interested.”
→ No problem, I don't know your setup well enough to say if it fits. Out of curiosity, how are reviews handled today, and does that work well for you?
“We already use something for performance reviews.”
→ Good, then you already see the value. What do you wish it did better? A lot of teams I talk to tell me it's the follow-through on goals and feedback.
“Just send me an email.”
→ Happy to. So I send something useful, what's the biggest headache in your review process right now? Then I can follow up Thursday with a short chat.
