Ordr role-play cheat sheet
For the mock cold call at the end of most SDR interviews.
What they sell, in one line
Software that finds and protects every connected device on a network, from medical equipment to smart sensors.
Who you'd be calling
CISO, Director of Security, Network Engineering and Biomedical/Clinical Engineering leaders at hospitals and large enterprises
Your opener
“Hi [Name], this is [You] from ORDR. I know I'm calling unexpectedly. We help security teams see every connected device on their network, including ones they didn't know about. Do you have a quick minute?”
Problems you solve for them
- Teams can't see all the connected devices on their network
- Unmanaged IoT and medical devices are easy targets for attackers
- Hard to segment devices and respond to threats quickly
Discovery questions to ask
- How do you keep track of all the connected devices on your network today, like IoT, medical or OT devices?
- How confident are you that your asset list is complete and up to date?
- If an unmanaged device was compromised, how quickly could your team find it and isolate it?
Objections they'll throw at you
“I'm busy right now.”
→ Understood, I'll keep this short. I'm calling about visibility into devices your team may not be able to see. Can I grab 15 minutes later this week instead?
“We're not interested.”
→ No problem. Many security leaders say that before they realize how many unmanaged devices they have. Is device visibility already covered, or just not a focus right now?
“We already use something for this.”
→ Good to hear, you're ahead of many teams. What are you using today, and does it cover medical and OT devices as well as regular IT?
“Just send me an email.”
→ Sure thing. So I send something relevant, is your bigger worry visibility, risk or segmentation? And who else on your team should see it?
Competitors worth knowing
Armis, Claroty, Forescout, Medigate
Interview tips for this company
- Learn the terms IoT (smart connected things), OT (industrial equipment) and 'asset visibility' so you can explain them in plain words.
- Expect a technical buyer. It's fine to say 'I'll bring in a specialist' instead of guessing.
