OneTrust role-play cheat sheet
For the mock cold call at the end of most SDR interviews.
What they sell, in one line
OneTrust sells software that helps companies manage data privacy, consent, compliance and AI governance.
Who you'd be calling
Chief privacy officers, data protection officers, compliance and legal leaders at large companies.
Your opener
“Hi Morgan, this is Alex from OneTrust. We help privacy and compliance teams keep up with changing privacy and AI rules without drowning in manual work. Is that something on your plate right now?”
Problems you solve for them
- Privacy laws like GDPR and CCPA are hard to keep up with
- Tracking customer consent across websites and systems is messy
- New AI rules make it unclear how to use AI safely
Discovery questions to ask
- How do you track and respond to privacy requests and consent today?
- Who owns AI governance at your company, if anyone yet?
- How do you stay on top of new privacy laws across different regions?
Objections they'll throw at you
“I'm busy.”
→ Sure, I'll be brief. Can I schedule a short 15-minute call later this week, and what day works for you?
“We're not interested.”
→ Got it. Is privacy already well covered, or is this just not a focus right now?
“We already have a privacy tool.”
→ That's good to hear. What does it cover well, and where do you still handle things by hand, like AI governance?
“Send me an email.”
→ Happy to. So it's useful, which is your bigger worry right now: privacy laws, consent, or AI governance?
