Kodex role-play cheat sheet
For the mock cold call at the end of most SDR interviews.
What they sell, in one line
A secure platform for tech companies and agencies to send, receive and manage law enforcement data requests.
Who you'd be calling
Trust & safety, legal and compliance heads, general counsel and privacy leads at tech companies; also government agency teams.
Your opener
“Hi Morgan, this is Alex from Kodex. I know I'm calling out of nowhere. We help companies handle subpoenas and law enforcement data requests in one secure place. Who on your team deals with those requests today?”
Problems you solve for them
- Law enforcement requests arrive by email, fax and portals and are hard to track
- Teams must verify that requests are real and legitimate
- Slow or mishandled requests create legal and security risk
Discovery questions to ask
- Who handles law enforcement requests at your company?
- How do they come in today and how do you track them?
- How do you confirm a request is from a real agency?
Objections they'll throw at you
“I'm busy.”
→ Understood, I'll be quick. Can I ask one thing, who handles subpoenas and data requests on your side?
“We're not interested.”
→ That's okay. Is it because your volume is low, or because the process is already working well?
“We handle this in-house already.”
→ Many teams start there. How much time does your team spend on verifying and tracking requests each week?
“Send me an email.”
→ Sure. Who's the right person for legal process, in case that's not you? And could we book a short call after you've seen it?
Interview tips for this company
- Stay professional and serious, since this is a sensitive, legal-heavy topic.
- Learn the words subpoena, legal process and trust & safety so you sound comfortable.
- Know that you'll sell to two sides, companies receiving requests and agencies sending them.
