Infisical role-play cheat sheet
For the mock cold call at the end of most SDR interviews.
What they sell, in one line
Infisical is an open source platform that securely stores and manages secrets like API keys and passwords for software teams.
Who you'd be calling
Heads of Engineering, DevOps and platform leads, security engineers and CISOs at software and tech companies
Your opener
“Hi Jordan, it's Alex from Infisical. I know I'm calling out of the blue. We help engineering teams keep API keys and passwords out of code and chat, and I wanted to ask how your team handles that today. Got a minute?”
Problems you solve for them
- API keys and passwords hardcoded in code or shared in chat
- Leaked secrets can lead to costly security breaches
- Hard to control who has access to which secret
- Audits and compliance require proof of secret handling
Discovery questions to ask
- How does your team store and share API keys and other secrets today?
- Has anyone ever found a secret in code or a repo by accident?
- Who owns secrets security: engineering, DevOps or the security team?
Objections they'll throw at you
“I don't have time for this.”
→ Understood. I'll keep it to one question about how your team handles secrets. Can I ask that now, or is later this week better?
“We're not interested.”
→ Fair enough. Is secrets management already something you feel is fully handled, or just not a priority right now?
“We already use Vault or a cloud tool.”
→ Good, so you take this seriously. How much effort does it take your team to run and maintain it?
“Send me an email.”
→ Happy to. What would be most helpful in it: how it works, how it compares to what you use, or how open source helps?

Interview tips for this company
- Understand what a 'secret' is in software (API keys, passwords, tokens) and why leaking one is a big deal.
- Open source is a big part of their story. Know what it means and why engineers like it.
- Note that the posting shown is for an Account Executive. Confirm in the interview what the SDR role covers before assuming.
