Gravity role-play cheat sheet
For the mock cold call at the end of most SDR interviews.
What they sell, in one line
An ad network that places ads inside AI chat answers, so AI apps earn money and advertisers reach buyers.
Who you'd be calling
Heads of growth, partnerships or monetization at AI app companies, and performance marketing or media leads at brands that advertise.
Your opener
“Hi [Name], this is [Your Name] from Gravity. I know I'm calling out of the blue. Do you have 30 seconds to hear why I called, and then you can tell me if it's worth your time?”
Problems you solve for them
- AI apps have lots of users but few good ways to earn revenue besides subscriptions
- Advertisers want to reach people while they are actively asking for recommendations
- Banner ads feel out of place in a chat, so users ignore them
Discovery questions to ask
- How are you making money from your AI app today, beyond subscriptions?
- If you've tried ads in a chat product, how did users react?
- Where do your best-fit customers research products before they buy?
Objections they'll throw at you
“I'm busy right now.”
→ Totally fair, I'll be quick. I'm only asking whether ads inside AI answers are on your radar this year. Would a 15-minute call later this week work better?
“Not interested.”
→ No problem. Can I ask if that's because ads in AI feel risky for the user experience, or because it's just not a priority right now?
“We already use something for ads or monetization.”
→ Good, then you already see why it matters. Does what you use today reach people inside AI conversations, or mostly on web and social?
“Just send me an email.”
→ Happy to. So I send something useful, what's your biggest goal right now: new revenue from your app, or reaching new customers as an advertiser?
Interview tips for this company
- Be able to explain in one simple sentence what an ad inside an AI answer looks like, and why it's different from a banner ad.
- Know that you have two kinds of buyers, AI app owners and advertisers, and ask which one you're role-playing before you start.
