- How much time does your team spend at year-end pulling together audit and GASB reporting?
- Who else gets involved when you issue new debt or add a lease?
Objections they'll throw at you
“I'm busy right now.”
→ Totally understand, I'll be quick. Would it be better if I called back tomorrow morning or Thursday afternoon for five minutes?
“We're not interested.”
→ Fair enough, I'd be surprised if you were after a cold call. Out of curiosity, is it that debt tracking is already handled, or just not a priority right now?
“We already use something for this.”
→ Good to hear you have a process. What's working well with it, and is there anything, like lease reporting or audit prep, that still ends up in a spreadsheet?
“Just send me an email.”
→ Happy to. So I send you something useful, what's the biggest headache right now: debt, leases, or reporting? And can we set a quick follow-up for next week?
Interview tips for this company
- Learn a few public finance words: bonds, GASB, audit, treasurer. You don't need to be an expert, but sounding curious helps.
- Note the company describes its platform as 'Monetary'. Check their site so you use the current name.
