CardFlight role-play cheat sheet
For the mock cold call at the end of most SDR interviews.
What they sell, in one line
SwipeSimple helps small businesses take card payments in person and online, send invoices, and track sales with readers and software.
Who you'd be calling
Owners and managers of small businesses like salons, food trucks, contractors, and retail shops; also banks and resellers who offer it to their customers.
Your opener
“Hi Jordan, this is Alex from SwipeSimple. We help small businesses take card payments and send invoices from one simple app. Do you have a quick minute, or did I catch you at a bad time?”
Problems you solve for them
- Small businesses want to accept cards easily without clunky or costly equipment
- Chasing customers for payment and tracking invoices wastes time
- Payment fees and bookkeeping are confusing and hard to manage
Discovery questions to ask
- How do your customers pay you today: card, cash, invoice, or a mix?
- What do you use now to take cards, and how do you feel about the fees?
- How long does it take to get paid after you finish a job?
Objections they'll throw at you
“I'm busy right now.”
→ I get it, running a business is busy. Can I call back at a better time, maybe tomorrow morning or afternoon?
“Not interested.”
→ Understood. Just so I'm not off base, are you happy with how you take payments today, or is anything a hassle?
“We already use Square or another processor.”
→ Lots of businesses do, and they work fine for many. Would you be open to a quick comparison of fees and features so you know you're getting a good deal?
“Just send me an email.”
→ Sure thing. So it's relevant, do you mostly take payments in person, online, or by invoice?
Competitors worth knowing
Square, Clover, Stripe, PayPal Zettle
