Bishop Fox role-play cheat sheet
For the mock cold call at the end of most SDR interviews.
What they sell, in one line
Security experts who hack into your systems on purpose, including with AI tools, so you can fix weaknesses first.
Who you'd be calling
CISOs, security directors and application security or product security leaders at mid-size to large companies.
Your opener
“Hi [Name], this is [You] from Bishop Fox. I know I'm catching you cold. We help security teams find weak spots by safely attacking their systems before real criminals do. Do you have a minute?”
Problems you solve for them
- Real attackers find weaknesses before internal teams do
- Compliance and customers demand regular penetration tests
- Internal security teams are stretched thin
- Automated scanners miss problems that skilled humans find
Discovery questions to ask
- How do you test your security today, in-house, a vendor, or scanners?
- When did you last have an outside team try to break in, and what came out of it?
- What's driving your security priorities this year, compliance, customers, or a recent scare?
Objections they'll throw at you
“I'm busy right now.”
→ Understood, security leaders are always swamped. Can I grab two minutes now, or would a better time this week work?
“We're not interested.”
→ Fair. Is that because testing is already well covered, or because it's not a focus at the moment?
“We already work with a pen testing vendor.”
→ That's good. Are you happy with how deep they go and how fast you get results, or would a second opinion be useful?
“Just send me an email.”
→ Sure. So I don't waste your time, what part of your environment worries you most, apps, cloud or network?

Interview tips for this company
- Know what a penetration test is: friendly hackers trying to break in so you can fix it before real ones do.
- Stay humble and curious with technical buyers; ask questions rather than pretending to be an expert.
