Antimetal role-play cheat sheet
For the mock cold call at the end of most SDR interviews.
What they sell, in one line
Sells AI software that investigates and fixes infrastructure problems and helps control cloud costs.
Who you'd be calling
VPs of Engineering, DevOps and platform leads, and SRE managers at cloud-based software companies.
Your opener
“Hi [Name], this is [You] from Antimetal. We help engineering teams spend less time on outages and cloud bill surprises, do you have a minute for me to explain why I called?”
Problems you solve for them
- Engineers lose hours chasing down incidents and outages
- Cloud bills keep growing and nobody knows why
- On-call work burns out the team and slows product work
Discovery questions to ask
- When something breaks in production, how does your team find the cause today?
- How much of your engineers' week goes to firefighting versus building?
- How closely do you track and manage your cloud costs?
Objections they'll throw at you
“I'm busy right now.”
→ No worries, I'll be brief. Can I grab 10 minutes later this week when things are calmer?
“We're not interested.”
→ Got it. Is that because incidents and cloud costs aren't a pain right now, or you're already handling them well?
“We already use Datadog or similar tools.”
→ Those are great for seeing what's happening. Who figures out and fixes the cause when an alert fires, and how long does that usually take?
“Send me an email.”
→ Sure. So it's useful, which matters more to you right now: faster incident fixes or lower cloud spend?
Competitors worth knowing
Datadog, PagerDuty, Vantage, CloudZero
Interview tips for this company
- Know the basics: cloud (AWS), DevOps, on-call and outages, in simple words.
- Be ready to explain 'AI that fixes problems' without hype, since engineers are skeptical.
