Your game plan for this job
0 of 5 doneMost people just hit Apply. Do these first and you show up with someone on the inside.
- 1Pick 2–3 people at incident.ioWe found 23 current reps: 6 SDRs, 11 AEs. SDRs reply the most; they were in your shoes recently. See them ↓
- 2Send a short, curious noteAsk about their experience, not for a referral. We write it for you, with the role and what incident.io sells.
- 3Have a 15-minute chatGood questions for this role:
- What does a normal day look like for you?
- How did you land the job? What stood out in your interviews?
- The role is mostly outbound. How much is calling vs. email vs. LinkedIn?
- How is the team doing on quota? What separates the people who hit it?
- 4Apply, ideally with a referralIf the chat went well, ask if they'd refer you or point you to the hiring manager. Then apply and let them know so they can flag it.
- 5Prep for the role playSDR interviews almost always end in a mock cold call. Practice with the incident.io cheat sheet and the role-play guide.

Full job description
A little about us
incident.io is the AI software reliability platform trusted by engineering teams at Netflix, Etsy, and 2,000+ companies who can't afford downtime.
The stakes are real, the talent is insane, and somehow it's a genuinely lovely place to work. We all pull our weight, go the extra mile, and put in the bit of magic most companies don't have time for, all while having fun and never taking ourselves too seriously.
We've raised $100+ million from Index Ventures, Insight Partners, and Point Nine, and we're growing fast. There's never been a better time to join.
Your way into tech sales
If you've been looking for an opportunity to break in, this is it.
We're looking for purposeful, high-potential people who take coaching well, brush off rejection, and are always finding ways to level up. You don't need sales experience. As long as you have the raw ingredients, we can teach the rest.
Sales Academy is a 3-month program where you'll learn from proven sales leaders and all-star sellers, and you'll be selling a product customers love. The world's best engineering teams rely on incident.io when things go wrong, so you'll start your career with something worth talking about.
What that looks like day to day
You'll start in January 2027 alongside a cohort of people who, like you, have never done this job before. You get to be bad at it in front of people who are also bad at it, and get good fast.
Part one: training.
You'll get intensive training and support from our sales leaders and tenured sellers. It covers researching prospects, cold calling, writing outreach people want to answer, and handling objections. You'll also learn how incident.io works, who we sell to, and why they buy. There's daily practice, homework, and plenty of coaching from people who want to see you succeed.
Part two: doing the job.
For the rest of the academy, you'll work as a Business Development Rep (BDR) on live accounts. You'll make calls and send outreach, and the meetings you book will feed our pipeline. By the end, you'll be able to hold your own on a cold call with a CTO.
What you get out of it
It all starts here.
BDRs are the bench for the rest of our go-to-market team. People in this seat go on to become Account Executives, Account Managers, and Customer Success Managers. The goal is for everyone who finishes the academy to convert to a permanent BDR, launching a long, high-trajectory career here at incident.io.
Alongside sales training, you'll get professional development and networking opportunities across the wider business. We want you to feel like part of our culture from day one, not someone passing through.
If you don't convert,
you'll still have had three months of paid, on-the-job training. You'll leave with tested, marketable hard skills and a clearer sense of your strengths and where you'd do your best work. We'll do our best to help you with your next move.
