Vulcan Technologies role-play cheat sheet
For the mock cold call at the end of most SDR interviews.
What they sell, in one line
AI software that helps government agencies read, analyze, and manage regulations and policy faster.
Who you'd be calling
Policy, regulatory, and legal leaders and program or IT heads at federal, state, and local government agencies.
Your opener
“Hi, this is [Name] from Vulcan Technologies. I know you're busy, so I'll be quick. We help agencies get through regulatory and policy review faster with AI, and I wanted to see how your team handles that today.”
Problems you solve for them
- Regulations are long and complex, and reviewing them by hand takes a lot of time
- Staff are stretched thin and policy work piles up
- It's hard to check rules for conflicts, gaps, or outdated language
Discovery questions to ask
- How does your team review and update regulations right now?
- How long does a typical policy review take, and where does it slow down?
- Has your agency looked at using AI for any of this work yet?
Objections they'll throw at you
“I'm busy right now.”
→ Totally get it, I'll be quick. Could I grab 2 minutes now, or is there a better time later this week?
“We're not interested.”
→ Fair enough. Can I ask what you use now for policy review, so I know if this is even relevant to you?
“We already have a process or vendor for this.”
→ Good to hear you have something in place. Where does it still feel slow or manual for your team?
“Just send me an email.”
→ Happy to. So I send you something useful, which part matters most to you: speed, accuracy, or workload? And would a short call next week make sense after you've read it?
Interview tips for this company
- Learn how government buying works: long cycles, budgets, procurement rules, and many people who sign off.
- Stay careful about AI claims. Agencies worry about accuracy and trust, so don't overpromise.
- Check their website for current customers and use cases, and only mention what you can confirm.
