Stellar Cyber role-play cheat sheet
For the mock cold call at the end of most SDR interviews.
What they sell, in one line
A cybersecurity platform that combines threat detection tools into one system so small teams can spot and stop attacks faster.
Who you'd be calling
Security managers, IT directors, and CISOs at mid-sized companies, plus owners of managed security service providers (MSSPs).
Your opener
“Hi [Name], this is [Your Name] from Stellar Cyber. I know I'm catching you cold. We help small security teams see threats across all their tools in one place. Is that something you're dealing with, or am I off base?”
Problems you solve for them
- Too many separate security tools that don't talk to each other
- Small teams get buried in alerts and miss real threats
- Slow detection and response to attacks
Discovery questions to ask
- How many security tools is your team juggling right now?
- How do you handle the volume of alerts day to day?
- If a real attack happened tonight, how quickly would you know?
Objections they'll throw at you
“I'm busy right now.”
→ Understood, I'll keep it short. Is there a better 10 minutes this week when I could call back?
“Not interested.”
→ No problem. Just so I know I'm not wasting your time later, is alert overload something your team struggles with?
“We already have a SIEM/security vendor.”
→ That makes sense, most teams do. How well does it connect your network, cloud, and endpoint data, or do you still stitch it together by hand?
“Send me an email.”
→ Sure thing. What would be most useful to see in it: how it cuts alert noise, or how it replaces extra tools?
Competitors worth knowing
CrowdStrike, SentinelOne, Palo Alto Networks, Microsoft Sentinel
Interview tips for this company
- Learn the basics: SIEM collects security logs, NDR watches network traffic, XDR connects detection across tools.
- Don't pretend to be technical. Ask good questions and be honest when you don't know something.
