Niantic Spatial role-play cheat sheet
For the mock cold call at the end of most SDR interviews.
What they sell, in one line
Builds AI models that understand the physical world and places, giving apps and machines accurate location awareness.
Who you'd be calling
CTOs, heads of engineering, product and innovation leads at enterprises in areas like mapping, robotics, logistics, AR and real estate.
Your opener
“Hi Sam, this is Alex from Niantic Spatial. I know I'm calling out of the blue. We build AI that helps machines and apps understand real-world places precisely. Is location or real-world awareness part of anything your team is building?”
Problems you solve for them
- AI doesn't understand real-world places and how spaces fit together
- GPS alone isn't precise enough for many uses, like indoors or in cities
- Building location features in-house is slow and expensive
Discovery questions to ask
- Do any of your products or projects depend on knowing exactly where something is?
- How do you handle location accuracy today, especially indoors or in dense areas?
- Who on your team owns projects involving maps, AR or robotics?
Objections they'll throw at you
“I'm busy right now.”
→ Understood, I'll be quick. I'm only trying to find out if location accuracy matters in your work. Can I have 20 seconds, or when's a better time?
“We're not interested.”
→ No problem. Is that because location isn't a big part of your products, or because it's already solved?
“We already use something for this.”
→ Good. What are you using today, and where does it fall short, like accuracy, coverage or cost?
“Just send me an email.”
→ Sure. So I send something relevant, is your interest more in mapping, AR or machines that need to navigate?
Interview tips for this company
- Be able to explain the company in one simple sentence: AI that understands the physical world, not just the internet.
- This is a technical, enterprise sale, so show curiosity: ask good questions and admit what you don't know instead of guessing.
