Featherless.ai role-play cheat sheet
For the mock cold call at the end of most SDR interviews.
What they sell, in one line
A serverless platform to run open-source AI models through an API, with no servers to manage.
Who you'd be calling
Developers, CTOs and AI/ML leads at startups and companies building products on open-source language models
Your opener
“Hi [Name], this is [You] from Featherless. I know I'm interrupting your day. Quick question: are you using any open-source AI models in your product right now?”
Problems you solve for them
- Hosting open AI models yourself means managing costly GPUs
- Switching between many open models is a hassle
- Small teams don't want to hire infrastructure engineers just to use AI
Discovery questions to ask
- Which AI models are you using or testing today?
- How do you host and scale them right now?
- What's the most frustrating part: cost, reliability, or setup time?
Objections they'll throw at you
“I'm busy right now.”
→ Got it, I'll be fast. Is running AI models something that's on your plate this quarter? If so, can we set 10 minutes later this week?
“Not interested.”
→ No worries. Is that because you're set on a different approach, or because open models aren't a focus right now?
“We already use something else.”
→ Makes sense. Many teams use more than one. How easy is it for you to try a new open model when one comes out?
“Just send me an email.”
→ Absolutely. What would be most helpful in it: model list, pricing, or how setup works? I'll send it and check in Friday.
